If you are a smoker, besides being punished at every opportunity by the police anti-smoking, no doubt, be aware that smoking is bad for your health. So why smoking Nazis always being so down on you? Why you want to quit? The answers lie in the benefits of smoking cessation that comes from leaving smoking the evil weed. You smoke so bad for your health that beggars belief.
Rather than thinking in terms of benefits to quit smoking, I look at the drawbacks consumption of snuff in terms of their health. The bad things that cigarettes are doing to halt to stop smoking.
Stop Smoking Benefit # 1: Reducing cancer risk
When you smoke, you are literally eating cancer-causing (carcinogenic) substances all the time inhaled. The carcinogens are absorbed into the bloodstream and adhere to any surface of your body that come into contact with.
Overtime, these carcinogens to cause damage to cells and helps to mutate the DNA of cells. Most of the time your body can deal with it, but smokers assault with these carcinogens for years and years. Finally, your body becomes overwhelmed and somewhere, there's a good chance the cancer development.
Of course, the main area is likely to contract cancer is in your lungs, but all of your mouth, tongue, nose, throat, larynx and esophagus, are at greater risk. Smokers also have higher risks of virtually all forms of cancer, but these risks start giving the time to stop smoking.
Smoking Cessation Benefit # 2: Reducing the risk of COPD
Another serious disease caused by smoking is known collectively as COPD which means Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. For you and me that means long-term damage to the disease of lung function.
The two main changes in COPD needs to be aware of are emphysema and bronchitis.
Emphysema is a disease in which lung tissue is no longer elastic and spongy becoming inflexible and ineffective in doing their work. In simple terms, emphysema suffocates to death because their lungs are no longer in the lungs and instead of becoming bags stagnant air in the chest! It is very unpleasant and affects about 18,000 Americans annually.
Bronchitis is the long-term inflammation of the bronchioles, obstructing the ability of the lungs to transfer air from outside to inside you. This restriction reduces the effectiveness of the lungs and makes breathing difficult.
Most smokers suffer from bronchitis very mild irritation caused by the inhalation of hot toxic smoke into the lungs every hour or so. This is manifested in the wheezing and coughing from smoking, where smoking expels excess mucus in response to irritation.
Stop Smoking Benefit # 3: Risk Reduction heart disease
Smoking causes many physiological changes in the body, both short and long term. One thing it does is harden arteries and increase pressure pressure. This in turn makes it harder for your heart to pump blood throughout your body. As a result, your heart works harder and becomes enlarged.
Moreover this, the high pressure puts more stress on the aorta and other arteries throughout the body. The combined effect of the increased stress on the cardiovascular system means which are much more prone to heart disease and heart attacks likely.
Stop Smoking Benefit # 4: Reduced risk of accident cerebrovascular
Smokers run a much higher chance of suffering a stroke, particularly in later life. The reasons are unclear, but believes that the same processes in smokers that are linked to lead to hardening of the arteries.
Your chance of having a stroke doubles every decade after age 55, but smokers have an increased risk of between twice and four times that of nonsmokers. Smokers Hypertension are twenty times more risk of stroke compared with non-high blood pressure non-smokers.
The benefits to quitting smoking are numerous and I mentioned only a few here. Whatever you do, quitting smoking is undoubtedly the most beneficial thing you can do to benefit your health bar none!
