Canine Lung Cancer End Stage Symptoms???
I have a 11 year old male collie who was diagnosed with lung cancer last September. In recent weeks I have noticed a marked increase in wheezing. The panting does not match the temperature as I have always been keeping the house in approx. 75 degrees since he came to me. Has anyone had experience with this diagnosis in dogs? Does increased panting in a way for him to try to obtain adequate levels of O2? Any information would be greatly appreciated! There is no smoking in the home. These wonderful useful answers so far! Thanks to all you for both!
oh my … I do not know if I can get through this response without breaking down. I lost my soul mate in February due to cancer lung and … … It was sudden. Began to tire more easily. But it was almost 12 slower. Then, some gasping, wheezing and coughing from time to time … the vet, X-ray dignosis. Panting and heavy breathing became more worked every day. Sticky eyes. Vet gave me prednisone to reduce some symptoms of the best and drops eyes. I had a week with him. I loved every hour, every day with him, watching, waiting for the day to decide that the mere act of "living" was too much for he. 2 days before the decision was made, she stopped eating. This really hit me, as the food was his "favorite" thing in his life. One night not could not sleep. You do not set .. I thought the pressure to do so made it difficult to breathe. I knew that tomorrow would be "the day". The next morning, he could barely stand, I was so exhausted. There was no enjoyment left for him, I called my vet to ease your pain. It was the last I could do for my friend ", for all the years he shared with me. My condolences. I wish you well ….. is incredibly difficult.
